Frame with Mannequin

This is what the frame will look like of the mannequin in the scene. I might dull down the highlights though.

ncloth experimentation

Played around with Maya ncloth today as I remembered Chris saying I could possibly figure out a solution for the goo.

In both cases ’self collision’ is off. I have yet to see the result after a texture is rendered. Some pretty nice and easy effects for viscous material. Obviously needs more experimentation.

Overview and Planning

Even though I started the semester unsure of my final project and a little uninspired, I’m fully invested in doing some good work now and putting in the effort to make it the best I can. I only hope nothing of disaterous proportions will happen between now and when my animation is due for its debut. Crap, I might have just jinxed it.

Things accomplished this semester

  • a very solid conceptual idea
  • a concrete style in mind
  • all of the content modelled and textured (barring the wretched mannequin)
  • successful test renders that are true to what I set out to do
  • Plan for the holidays(next 6 weeks! Yay.)

  • a start and perhaps a render of the intro - as you may remember it was zooming up from the mannequin and a door closing behind it - easy place to get cracking, as there is no animation needed. It’ll be a good place to iron out some possible render kinks.
  • playblast of camera shots and cuts for the whole thing
  • researching and experimenting ways to make the goo and decay

    Mannequin Woes

I’ve been spending the couple of days trying to modify a stock mesh I downloaded of a woman, trying get it to look more chiseled and mannequin-like. Except it is proving more difficult than I anticipated as the maker did it in a billion piece NURBS. It’s frankly pretty frustrating. I might have to model my own mannequin head and attach it to the body parts that I actually like from this mesh. I suppose I can spend the extra time in getting her just as I want her because after all, she is the main character.

I like the painted facial features and how the paints looks here.

This is how I imagined she will end up.

I love the vacant stares this mannequin has and how the photographer has arranged and photographed the pieces.
