Even though I haven’t finished animating, I figured I should start rendering what I can.
I have broken down the scenes into the frame number, so that I can render out non-moving backgrounds. My table is a little complex… but rendering is underway at least.

Even though I started the semester unsure of my final project and a little uninspired, I’m fully invested in doing some good work now and putting in the effort to make it the best I can. I only hope nothing of disaterous proportions will happen between now and when my animation is due for its debut. Crap, I might have just jinxed it.

Things accomplished this semester

a very solid conceptual idea

a concrete style in mind

all of the content modelled and textured (barring the wretched mannequin)

successful test renders that are true to what I set out to do

Plan for the holidays(next 6 weeks! Yay.)

a start and perhaps a render of the intro - as you may remember it was zooming up from the mannequin and a door closing behind it - easy place to get cracking, as there is no animation needed. It’ll be a good place to iron out some possible render kinks.

The concept was inspired by a set of illustrations by Tamara Shopsin. I’ve expanded the first image concept she did for The Walrus into a whole short reel of images that play on the idea of a pair of phrases or words that sound the same, but mean something completely different. For example:

Bird flew – bird flu

Right wing – write wing

Rubbish waste – rubbish waist

Eyesight – I cite

I heard – I herd

To pray – To prey

You fall – Ewe fall

Etc.
